The only good thing about the debt ceiling nonsense is we don’t have to hear from Nancy Grace re Casey Anthony.

I just joined the Gray Panthers → graypanthers.org

I worked in Oakland, CA, when the Black Panthers were at their peak. Eventually the Gray Panthers emerged as an advocacy group for the elderly. Now I’m gray (and so are the remaining Black Panthers), and I think it’s time for strong advocacy groups to fire up and get active.

Eeesh!

I woke up this morning with the feeling someone was squeezing my heart. No, not heart problems, just subconscious tension about the state of the nation…or the world, for that matter.

This debt ceiling sh*t! There are tragedies we can’t anticipate and avoid like tornadoes or earthquakes. But to have a possible calamity you know is avoidable and to do nothing to stop it…that’s cruelty. This is like deliberately running the Titanic into the iceberg. It’s like the end of Thelma and Louise.

Why TheVORTEX?

This blog is a continuation of a blog I had by the same name on WordPress. But I think I’ll like the micro-blogging format better.

“Vortex” is the image that comes to my mind when I envision the turbulence of today (I’m writing this three days before the debt default deadline with no resolution in sight!) and the forces at play going forward. Makes me dizzy at times. I’ve tried to think of other images, but a cyclonic swirl still seems appropriate (tornadoes, down the drain, etc.). The future is truly challenging, and I’m brash enough to hope my experience and observations will contribute in some small way to the discussion of how to manage it all.
